Bhakhra Dam is located in Northern  India  at a gorge of Sutlej river at Bhakhra village (now submerged) in district Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.

This lake is named  as Govind Sagar after the name of Guru Govind
Singh's, tenth guru of the sikhs.

Govind Sagar was declared as a water fowl refuge in 1962 . Fishing is commonly practised here in this lake.

Three level courses are being conducted - beginners , intermediate and advanced by Himachal Pradesh tourism department. For this it has constructed a Water Sports Complex  with all facilities at Luhanu ground Bilaspur.
